Dog boarding checklist
Safety is important, so look for secure, clean, chemical-free, and temperature-controlled spaces.

Make sure the boarding facility is certified or the owner is a member of a professional organisation.

Ask for references from other boarders.

Make sure you check out all areas that your dog will visit. Ask how much exercise they will get each day, and where. Make sure areas are supervised and secured so your best friend can't escape!

Ask to meet the people who will have contact with your dog and how many dogs each person is responsible for. Watch how they interact with the dogs in their care and ask which qualifications and experience they have.

Ask if it's a requirement for all dogs to be up-to-date with vaccinations.

Is there an extra charge for feeding your dog's normal diet? Your dog may have a different routine, so find out if this can be accommodated. If not ask what they are fed and how often; also ask how often their water is changed/filled.

Make note of the accommodation facilities including, ventilation, heating, air conditioning and shelter.

What sort of bedding is provided? Can they have personal items from home?

Find out what happens if your dog has any healthcare needs or emergencies requiring medication and/or vet services. Does the facility have contact with a vet in the local area and are any employees certified inpet first-aid.
