You will need:

• Balloons
• Mini dinosaur figurines
• Water
• Freezer space

We used 30cm balloons with mini dinosaurs.

Instructions

1. Blow up a balloon and hold it for 30 seconds to stretch it out
2. Stretch open the entrance to the balloon and manoeuvre the dinosaur into the balloon
3. Fill the balloon with water and tie it up. Make it as big or as small as you like.
4. Put the balloons in the freezer until they are frozen solid
5. When frozen, cut off the knot and peel off the balloon You are left with a dinosaur, frozen in time!

Hatching your egg

You can wait for the ice blocks to melt on their own to reveal the dinosaur or speed things up a bit for those who are a little impatient.

• Use droppers with warm water and drip onto the ice egg; or you could use a squeezy bottle filled with warm water.
• You could sprinkle some salt to help melt the ice (and it also makes amazing patterns while melting).
• If the weather is warm, you can also leave the egg outside to melt in the sun.
• For older kids, you could give them a small hammer to chip away at the ice. Make sure they wear eye protection such as goggles or sunglasses as the ice can be quite sharp.
